I am lining this section of the yard along the walk with some 3"x 8" blocks and then the remainder of the yard will be covered with white stone shown behind the blocks.
It took almost 2 hours to plant that small palm in front of me. The yard has a few inches of topsoil and then several feet of heavy , compacted clay which needs to be really worked to get out of the hole. The wheelbarrow has a "sandwich" of one layer garden dirt , then several inches of sand , then more dirt. Since we are planning to plant all cactus and succulents ,we figured this would make them all feel more at home. We currently have about 2 dozen more plants to go between this section of the yard and the smaller flowerbed on the other side of the front walk which will be getting the same treatment ( clear , paper mulch ,and cover with rock.
